The Suzuki DR650 is a long standing model in Suzuki's lineup, introduced in 1990 as a replacement for the DR600 model. For 1996 it was redesigned and re launched as the DR650se (street electric). The DR is a dual-sport, single cylinder motorcycle intended for use on both paved and unpaved roads.
This motorcycle is heavier than specialized off-road dirt bikes, but it can handle most conditions when ridden carefully. Its counterbalanced, single cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine develops 43 crank bhp (34 rwhp). It has a 13 liter (3.4 gallon) fuel tank (CA models 3.2 gal). It is commonly described as being useful for all types of motorcycling. Many owners regard the DR as an inexpensive adventure touring bike, adding saddle bags and modifications to make it more comfortable on long trips. It is also regarded as an excellent commuter bike, due to its relative high seating position, nimble handling and pep. The machine also makes a fine street Super Moto machine with the proper wheel and suspension set-up. This is an extemely versatile machine.
